Infact even in July when the summer heat should have meant we could have a break from keeping the vines free from fungus we still had rain and heat, rain and heat. As only our second year with our vines it was a steep learning curve to keep the vines safe. Now, moving into the end of August it is great to see healthy grapes bunches on the

I enjoy my kitchen garden, its true that Marthese takes care of it, but seeing what she wants to grow, her planning and helping move the seedlings, install the drip irrigation system and then weeding, means I do get to spend some time there. This gives us vegetables from the summer in winter, which we appreciate greatly. As the

At the moment the task in hand for Marthese and I is that the vines leaf cover is starting to get in the way of the tractors working area, as well as stopping any organic treatment used getting to the grapes, this means the start of  tying back of the vines. To do this, we walk the vines and position the grapes vine shoots into the wires

The story, Tenuta le Mandorlaie The original house and outlying structures was constructed at some point between the years 1955 and 1970. The house was a farmers home and served as such until the 1970's. The house is located in the area of Maremma called 'Mandorlaie' which is Italian for Almond.
